Working out of Woodstock means fewer surprises

Climate and salt exposure
Woodstock sits far enough inland that winters run cold and steady rather than the freeze-thaw whiplash you get closer to Lake Erie, but that steadiness comes with its own toll: heavy, prolonged salt use on driveways and walkways from December through March. Road salt tracked in from Highway 401 and Dundas Street is one of the most common causes of surface scaling we see on unsealed Woodstock driveways, and it is one of the easiest problems to prevent. A properly applied sealer blocks salt and moisture from penetrating the surface, which is the main defence against spalling once the spring thaw sets in.
Best time to book
Late spring through early fall is the ideal window for concrete sealing in Woodstock, once daytime temperatures are reliably warm enough for the sealer to cure properly and before the first frost risk in October. We do book up during the peak months of June and July, so property owners who want their driveway or patio done before a fall barbecue or before winter salt season starts should plan to call in spring.
A recent Woodstock job
One recent project involved a stamped concrete patio in Southside that had never been sealed since it was poured eight years earlier. The colour had faded unevenly and the surface had gone slightly chalky in the sun. We pressure washed the patio, repaired two hairline cracks near the step, and applied a Semi-Gloss sealer that brought the original stamped pattern and colour back into sharp contrast without looking artificially glossy. That is a common outcome on stamped work in this city, where a lot of patios were poured in the 2015 to 2018 building wave and are now due for their first reseal.
